Is ACI a part of the Citroën organization?
No, we are acting independently and as volunteers, like as we started our work many years ago on our own (read our history).
How is the ACI financed?
Automobiles Citroën financially supports our activities. Additionally, we receive donations from clubs or individuals. We have decided NOT to specify ACI membership fees for the clubs – but we encourage you to donate money to us. Please contact our treasurer on how you can help us!
What is the role of the ACI?
The formal establishment of ACI became necessary as -finally!- the manufacturer became interested in its own history. Until then, the co-operation between Citroën and the clubs and selected events has been done individually, mostly in France. With more upcoming requests from individuals, national and international clubs and organisations, Automobiles Citroën felt it necessary to speak to one partner. And we as club representatives felt it quite important to also speak with one voice.
Looking onto national levels, a setup similar to the international ACI is also seen more and more. In some countries, a close co-operation between the national clubs and Citroën is existing, in some other countries none. The Citroën headquarter is interested into having similar setups all around the world – and so do we as ACI. The new Citroen brand claim “creative technologie” (established in 2009) embraces references to the outstanding history of the marque in a perfect way.
Today and in the future, the national Citroën affiliates (company branches) are requested to communicate with the national ACI delegates when contact or co-operation with clubs is necessary or wished.
Example: In case you would like to visit the Citroën Conservatoire in Aulnay, please contact your national ACI delegates. They will relay your request to the national Citroën affiliate, and it is on Citroën now to book a visit arrangement.
How can I get Citroën to support my national club meeting or event?
Please contact your national ACI delegates. They will present your request to the national Citroën affiliate.
We do not have ACI delegates in our country – what can we do now?
In case there are three or more clubs in a country, please contact your national Citroën affiliate. Ask if they can help you organizing the first step: a national assembly of all clubs to elect the 2 ACI delegates.
This step is also important for the national Citroën branch – the delegates are their contacts towards the clubs!
In case there are only two clubs in your country, it would be wise to elect one representative of each club as ACI delegate.
In bigger countries or regions where eg. long distances prevent you from meeting, an election by letter would be our recommendation. Again, the national or regional Citroën branch may help you in setting up the election process.
How can we submit agenda / event proposals etc. for the General Meeting?
As your two national ACI delegates are the interface from the clubs of your country to the ACI Board, please contact them to submit your request to us. Please note that this submission must reach us latest 6 weeks before a General Meeting takes place so we can update the agenda and inform the other delegates accordingly in advance.
We would like to get support for an international event. How do we proceed?
For both national and international events, please provide your ACI delegates with all relevant information as they are the interface towards your national Citroën affiliate and to us.
Additionally, on our website is a form for application as Event Of The Year. Together with your ACI Delegate, this form must be filled in and submitted to us, to make sure the event is properly applied for!
Relevant questions: Is your meeting really important nationally or internationally? Is it open for every kind of Citroën drivers or just for club members? Citroën accepts international events for the type jubilees at 25, 50, 75 and 100 years, and big events like ICCCR.
How can I become an ACI delegate?
It is of importance that you understand and speak English, as well as have an email address. Carefully listen to club requirements and wishes and act as a moderator is a plus. You also should be prepared to travel to Paris and/or another European location once or twice a year to attend General Meetings. And – last but not least – you should be nominated and elected by your national Citroën clubs!
Can ACI help us organizing an event?
Sorry, but the ACI is no event organizer but acts as a communications platform between the clubs, the delegates and Automobiles Citroën. We can though help you with support in experience sharing – one of the ACI Board members is responsible for events, and some of the Delegates also have just successfully organized an “Event Of The Year” or an ICCCR! We also can assist you in looking for expertise in other countries by using our communications network. Of course, you should also contact your national ACI delegate to help you.
In case you need more answers, do not hesitate to contact us directly. Thank you!
