The acting head of “L’Aventure Peugeot Citroën DS”, Xavier Crespin has informed us today that two new history-oriented websites were launched:
www.citroenorigins.com
and
www.citroenorigins.fr/fr
where you can discover many different Citroën models and learn about their variants, history and other facts.
CITROËN Heritage is the authoritative source to provide the presented contents.
Please try it out for yourself – and please inform the clubs about these exciting portals!
Please note that the contents on these pages currently is under development and will grow over time.
Additional information (added 9-Sep-2016):
On 9-Sep-2016, an official press release was published by Citroën:
Why does this site not show the DS and the SM? This is really unbelievable!! Do they think they get away with that? Is this new Citoren management really forgetting about their past???
Relaying of what i found from J. Marsh: Nigel Wild of the Citroen Car Club in UK asked what I thought and my response was that it represents a Stalinist rewriting of history. Remember when Lenin was intentionally wiping out Trotzki on a photo – a story which became famous.
But then history has never been Peugeot-Citroën’s strong point.
Let me state it quite clearly – when they continue like that, omitting their history for the sake of inventing a non-existing one – i am pretty much sure i will not buy any newer Citroen because i can not believe them any longer. Citroën destroys brand loyalty. As clearly as that.
Oh – an interesting blog by Ian Seabrook entitled Citroën destroys brand loyalty appeared at https://hubnut.org/2016/07/26/citroen-destroys-brand-loyalty/
and is well worth reading. Ian makes the point that the “…spinning off of the DS ‘brand’ from within Citroën is a triumph of marketing over substance.” And they have now decided to “…airbrush one of its most iconic designs from its history files…” …because “…some marketing bod who was born decades later had a blue sky moment and decided it isn’t a Citroën anymore.” He goes on to say that history is being altered to make it easier to sell the “hideous DS range of cars”.
There is only one DS. The bland and uninteresting products of PSA Groupe that are marketed by DS Automobiles have nothing to do with that car.
I totally agree with Mr. Meyers comment. This rewriting of history in order to reserve the Godess for DS marketing is infuriating Citroën enthusiasts in many countries, and I am surprised that the Citroën Management is letting this happen. I vote for a Facebook campaign against this stupidity!
We will push this and other feedback to the PSA Group. The national Delegates are asked to also do this in their countries, We will keep you updated – please also check with more updates on “Citroën Origins” over time. Thank you!
Update: The ACI also has pushed now to get a reference and entry point to the enthusiasts and the clubs into the website. Since localizations will take place, too, maybe also national links can be made possible. Again, this has been proposed to L’Aventure. We will keep you updated. Stay tuned!
Hello Joest, good work. We see if Citroën listens to the owners.
