In cooperation with “L’Aventure Peugeot Citroën DS”, “Automobiles Citroën” and “Amicale Citroën DS France”, a kick-off video now is available, paving the way to the “100 Years of Citroën” centennial event upcoming in 2019.
This video, produced by Automobiles Citroën, was presented for the first time at the ICCCR 2016 in Middachten/NL.
Enjoy!
PS: Further questions should be addressed to the colleagues from Amicale Citroën DS France.
And there is no imagery at all of Citroën’s most famous model? Sad.
However it could be fun to attend the centenary anniversary
correct, I did not see one ACTIVA in that movie
Great news! Count me in on this once-in-a-lifetime centennial event! Warm <<-regards
I’m in. I drive a 1971 Citroen DS in Austin, Texas of all places. Fantastic car and driven nearly every day.
I’ve even got a website devoted to the DS… http://www.adsguy.guru
@Chris: hope we will see the DS being (a prominent) part of the history celebration. Why? Cuz today the DS, ID and SM are being ignored by Citroen, as they are shifted to be part of the DS brand. Look at the video – no DS, no ID, no SM to be shown! Incredible.
To repeat my comment from the other page:
Why does this video not show the DS and the SM? This is really unbelievable!! Do they think they get away with that? Is this new Citoren management really forgetting about their past???
Relaying of what i found from J. Marsh: Nigel Wild of the Citroen Car Club in UK asked what I thought and my response was that it represents a Stalinist rewriting of history. Remember when Lenin was intentionally wiping out Trotzki on a photo – a story which became famous.
But then history has never been Peugeot-Citroën’s strong point.
Let me state it quite clearly – when they continue like that, omitting their history for the sake of inventing a non-existing one – i am pretty much sure i will not buy any newer Citroen because i can not believe them any longer. Citroën destroys brand loyalty. As clearly as that.
Oh – an interesting blog by Ian Seabrook entitled Citroën destroys brand loyalty appeared at https://hubnut.org/2016/07/26/citroen-destroys-brand-loyalty/
and is well worth reading. Ian makes the point that the “…spinning off of the DS ‘brand’ from within Citroën is a triumph of marketing over substance.” And they have now decided to “…airbrush one of its most iconic designs from its history files…” …because “…some marketing bod who was born decades later had a blue sky moment and decided it isn’t a Citroën anymore.” He goes on to say that history is being altered to make it easier to sell the “hideous DS range of cars”.
There is only one DS. The bland and uninteresting products of PSA Groupe that are marketed by DS Automobiles have nothing to do with that car.
Like other readers, I am horrified to see the lack of any sort of D in the video. Marketing fools have a lot to answer for, and for those of us who have stayed loyal for nearly 50 years, and owned many D’s, it’s disastrous PR that is likely to result in decreased sales.
A Citroën anniversary should be with Citroën cars only. Why Peugeot, why DSx and why not Talbot, why not Panhard, why not Simca, why not Chrysler Europe? Panhard and Talbot have made excellent cars …
DS and SM are fully part of Citroën’s history regardless the riduculous marketing of the group. Open your eyes and admit the DSx could be branded Kia or any other commercial brand: they are regular cars for regular customers. When it is still time rebrand that branch and give back DS and SM to Citroën.
So long DSx will canibalize Citroën, I won’t participate in any event; sorry.
There is a CX in the video, which is the essence of the DS and the SM anyway, so why bother 😉
Looking forward to come there with my wife and CX turbo – thank you Citroën for enabling this event to take place.
To all the whinging sissys: you are so sad!
I hope the fault finders stay at home and let other people celebrate in peace.
I own a 1975 DS23 Pallas and would love to attend this event from the UK. I look forward to finding out more about it.
